The Arc of the Quad Cities Area JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Production Manager JOB FUNCTION: Ensure completion of all production activities through coordination of materials, scheduling, training, and work operations SUPERVISES: Production Specialists and Utility positions REPORTS TO: Associate Executive Director of Work Services LOCATION: Arc Industries SHIFT: 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, Flexible to complete production or marketing activities as needed JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Actively support and further the Mission of The Arc of the Quad Cities Area. * Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints. * Direct or coordinate production, processing, and distribution activities of the organization. * Monitor production standards and materials costs and quality to ensure finished products are of prescribe quality and within establish costs. * Initiate inventory cost control program to minimize waste and maximize profitability. * Manage production, setup and operate machinery, perform production activities as needed and provide training on processes and machinery as need to complete orders efficiently, meeting or exceeding production deadlines. * Perform preventative and ongoing maintenance on machines and equipment and maintaining an inventory system to ensure efficiency and security at Arc Industries. * Complete job method sheets to include safety, job layout, quality control, and process steps. * Train, supervise, evaluate and discipline all designated staff in accordance with policies and procedures. * Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational and program service reports to detect and implement resolution to production problems or barriers. * Participate in staffing and other pertinent meetings regarding individual workers served, following through with all recommendations. * Work with Director of Arc Industries to schedule staff and client training and production activities. * Coordinate materials, equipment, and supplies by pricing and purchasing needed goods, * Complete time studies and bidding, monitoring each job to ensure costs and margins are covered. * Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining positive communications, working closely with new customers, and ensuring quality work completed on time. * Ensure complete record keeping of production for client workers and customers, completing regular reports and maintaining date for payroll, job costing, and billing. * Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment and maintain safe work practices. * Monitor compliance of and use of necessary material handling equipment is being used properly to safely move and/or deliver materials for production purposes, including but not limited to fork trucks, hand trucks, vans, and delivery trucks. * Assist in shop production as time allows and perform all other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS * High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred. * Successful passing of pre-employment drug test; successful passing of random drug tests. * Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate total project efforts. * Supervisory experience preferred. * Production and computer experience preferred. * Mechanical and mathematical aptitude required. * Current and valid driver's license. Ability to obtain Class B CDL within 6 months of hire. * Strength and flexibility to perform production work. Ability to lift 50 lbs. * Ability to stand/work on feet for 90% or more of the scheduled shift. * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. * Satisfactory completion of fork truck certification prior to or within 60 days of employment. * DSP certification preferred or the ability to obtain within 120 days of employment.
