new Category Manager to join their
Leveraged Furniture Operations team in Muscatine, Iowa! Our
Category Managers are a key part of our vast supply chain network,
more specifically our Strategic Procurement team, a highly visible
and high performing group of professionals. As a Category
Manager, you will develop and maintain strong supplier
relationships and provide expert perspective on specific
categories, sharing knowledge on marketplace environments, industry
trends, and supplier capabilities. In this role, you are a
critical connection between our valued suppliers and HNI's
manufacturing and operations, developing and assimilating a
strategic vision for your designated category. You will also
manage and develop a cross-functional team of analysts, enforcing
structure and leading through continuous improvement
The procurement and category management team of HNI is a
dynamic, progressive group that contributes significantly to HNI’s
ability to meet key strategic goals and financial targets.
The Category Manager position offers continual challenge and growth
Some of the essential aspects of the Category Manager
- Implement planning tools and processes to capture and mitigate
supplier constraints to demands.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing and disputes for the benefit of
- Evaluate operational and financial risk inherent in potential
or existing supply chains to predict any level of detriment to HNI
goals or end user expectations.
- Guide the analysis of spend for specific categories.
- Identify and introduce new materials, supply chain
capabilities, technologies, and processes to meet current and
future interests of HNI products and services.
- Minimize supply chain disruption and execute projects on time,
to budget, and without HNI or customer impact.
- Drive continuous improvement in the category through price,
design, structure and process.
What it takes:
- 7-10 years of experience in supply chain with focus in
strategic procurement and supplier relations, preferably in
manufacturing and operations.
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Supply Chain or
Logistics, Business or Engineering
- Superior communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to perform productively in a fast paced and visible
