helpful demeanor Description: As a member of the interdisciplinary
team, you will contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills
in the provision and management of care to patients through the
application of the nursing process. You will perform procedures in
a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within
the guidelines and standards of Medical Imaging for assigned
patients of all ages. You are expected to be the expert in the
nursing processes of the Diagnostic and Treatment Services. You
will practice nursing within the scope of Illinois Registered
Professional Nurse licensure. You will oversee and perform thorough
and accurate patient assessments to evaluate patient status,
analyze findings, and report significant observations appropriately
while enhancing family communication. You will assume
responsibility for ensuring efficient, thorough, and effective
interventional case flow in the Medical Imaging Department. You
will administer medications and conscious sedation safely and
effectively following departmental policies. You will control
narcotics and supplies utilizing appropriate documentation. You
will monitor patient conditions and initiate appropriate
interventions as needed. You will follow and oversee patient safety
goals as well as quality throughout procedures. You will
demonstrate competency in caring for critically ill patients and
function independently and competently in emergency situations. You
will set up and use monitoring equipment during procedures. You
will perform venipuncture and insertion of peripheral catheters.
You will perform catheterization as needed in adult and pediatric
patients. You will perform nursing tasks in the Radiology
Department and nursing floors. You will perform daily inspections
such as refrigerator temperature and crash cart. You will function
as circulating tech and scrub assistant during procedures. You will
educate as necessary and maintain knowledge of moderate sedation
guidelines. You will assist in scheduling interventional cases and
coordinate daily flow between different imaging modalities. You
will provide proper explanations of procedures to patients and
their families to ensure understanding. You will assess and choose
teaching strategies appropriate to the patient's and family's
age-specific needs. You will adapt teaching strategies based on the
patient's response, readiness to learn, and level of comprehension.
You will consider cultural, age-specific, gender, and developmental
factors when teaching patients about procedures and hospital
experiences. You will ensure patient safety in the hospital
environment by following policy and procedures. You will consult
appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized
education. You will utilize patient education systems as a resource
for patients and family members.
