Job Description:
FUNCTION Develops and manages the material distribution and
shipping functions. Responsible for the flow of materials in the
factory environment (Including internal and external warehouses) to
support production. Manages material, inventory, and data into and
through the manufacturing and order fulfillment processes. Develops
material replenishment, conveyance and presentation strategies
utilizing best practices and optimizing resources in support of new
product development or manufacturing initiatives. Coordinates with
other functions (Supply Management, Order Fulfillment, Operations
and Manufacturing) to improve material availability and internal
logistics. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis list of duties
and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to
include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem
necessary from time to time.
Manages the internal flow of material
to support the production schedule. Material available at point of
use on time.Manages daily operations of internal and external
warehouse facilities.Coordinates Sears' local area trucks for
movement of materials between facilities.Manages the process and
negotiates contracts with outside warehouse/logistics
providers.Manages shipping and outbound logistics. Direct
responsibility to meet customer expectations and ship on
time.Coordinates the disposition, inventory adjustments or transfer
of material as appropriate.Analyzes material and inventory data in
support of Sears' goals for minimizing inventory.Responsible for
prevention of loss or damage of inventory.Works with all areas of
operations to resolve material performance issues/problems.Develops
and implements material replenishment, conveyance, and presentation
strategies.Ensures warehouse operations are streamlined within
operations. (Organization by value stream, flow- oriented layouts,
locations by consumption, storage areas and packaging quantity
optimization, visual management and standardization, daily
operation control, safety/ergo).Manages the inventory accuracy
process, conducts audits, and reports findings with corrective
action to detail process improvements.Facilitates development of
long-range goals and objectives to improve material flow.Plans and
coordinates with other departments and functions to achieve
objectives.Assists operations and project groups in coordinating
production readiness for implementation of new products.Performs
administrative duties related to managing performance, salary and
hourly pay, resource planning, budget, team training and
development of direct reports to maintain core competencies and
build new capabilities.
