Collins Aerospace Core Systems and Libraries team! This position is
for a highly experienced and motivated Engineering Manager that
will be involved in the architecture, design, implementation,
verification, and integration of a wide variety of next generation
software products that incorporate open architecture design
concepts with civil certification. As a leader in this
organization, you will be employing best practice design
methodologies and utilizing emerging technologies to develop the
next generation of Avionics Products, truly defining the future of
aerospace. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of
software development practices, military/commercial certification,
and experience leading execution teams. This is an onsite position
based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. What You Will Do: Technical direction:
Candidate will lead a team and apply sound engineering principles
related to software development meeting civil certification
requirements. Project management: Candidate will guide team members
in the management of scope, schedule, and budget for engineering
design activities to ensure success of team in meeting program
milestones and budgets. The candidate may be involved in project
management and execution, including Earned Value and Risk
Management. Process management: Candidate will guide team members
on the utilization of design and development processes,
certification, and ensure that the design and verification
activities are consistent with the established processes. Bids and
proposals: Candidate will lead, review, and provide guidance to
team members on bid and proposal activities. Personnel
administration: Candidate will make hiring decisions, performance
assessment decisions, ensure management of personnel issues,
develop personnel to achieve their career coals and create a highly
engaged and motivated team. Occasional travel may be needed.
Qualifications You Must Have: Typically requires a degree in
Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum
10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a
related field and minimum 7 years of experience. U.S. citizenship
is required , as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access
information under this program/contract. Experience in functional
and/or project leadership role for Software or FPGA developments
(in certification environments), with cost and schedule
responsibility and strong background in Earned Value Management.
Willingness to travel (domestic and international Qualifications We
Prefer: Adaptable and emotionally flexible to changes in
assignments, responsibilities, and resources. Highly self-motivated
and capable of establishing a positive work environment. Be a
self-starter and have strong analytical skills. Excellent written
and verbal communication skills. Dedicated to team success over
individual success. Excellent organizational skills and the ability
to manage multiple tasks while balancing priorities and schedules.
Ability to evaluate and report overall engineering performance to
plan as appropriate. Ability to analyze data and determine
appropriate actions to correct program problems before they impact
the overall program. Generate and maintain staffing plans including
recruiting, hiring and onboarding. Ability to coach, mentor, and
train other engineers. Experience with DO-178 development and
verification processes. Experience with design and development of
Flight Management Systems, Software, Aircraft Applications or
Middleware. Experience with both Agile and Waterfall development
strategies. Experience with various industry vendors, developments
and verification tools, lab integration and testing knowledge. What

132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good
faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX
