Eaton's MIssion Systems division is currently seeking a Senior
Mechanical Engineer. This position is located in the growing Quad
Cities, specifically in Davenport, IA. Eaton Mission Systems is a
Top 20 major employer in the area.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $77249.97 -
$113299.96 a year. Please note the salary information shown above
is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate
skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and
business considerations.
Position Overview:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will apply mechanical engineering
disciplines and working knowledge to a range of research and
development activities for the mechanical systems, devices, and
equipment in the Life Support product lines. The selected person
has the technical responsibility for planning, organizing, and
conducting technical projects involving design and development of
new or improved products with limited scopes. The person may
coordinate the efforts of other Engineering personnel, including
junior engineers, designers, technical writers, and technicians in
completion of specific project assignments.
What you'll do:
--- Primarily responsible for the design and development of
moderately complex projects for new oxygen system products,
processes, and technologies, as well as redesigns existing products
on time, within budget, and with required quality.
--- Participates in integrated product development teams; prepares
design specifications, analyses, and recommendations for
presentation and approval.
--- Develops project plans for development activities including
designing tasks, resource requirements, design reviews, and
qualification and verification plans.
--- Generates and/or reviews project-related documentation and
analysis results to ensure their completeness and quality.
--- Evaluates suitability of current products for new applications;
works with team to develop bids and proposals for new, modified, or
upgraded projects. Awareness of external trends relevant to
projects.
--- Works within team to develop predictive component and product
performance models; develops plans to verify models for component
and product characteristics. Able to perform analysis within their
technical domain and can lead analysis-led design changes
(performance, stress, thermal, fluid flow) using the analysis
results.
--- Interfaces with customers as part of development programs;
works closely with suppliers on component and product
development.
--- Participates in ideation for new products and technologies;
provides innovative ideas for improvements to existing products.
Generates IP and Publications in support of business needs.
--- Applies advanced tools in problem solving and project
management to solve technical issues.
--- Understands risks, design trade-off, tolerancing, and component
interactions and incorporates design for manufacturing and cost.
Incorporates machining/manufacturing capabilities into statistical
design of mechanical systems to meet performance and cost. Can
interpret product requirements and specify appropriate enhancements
to the design as per DFA & DFM fundamentals.
--- Has an understanding of drawing standards with advanced
DG&T application for repeatable part dimensions using datum
referencing dimensioning schemes.
--- Understands and can develop system level and
sub-system/component level requirements flow down.
--- Deeper understanding of aerospace regulatory standards,
regulations, and certifications.
--- Collaborates with analyst and challenges approach and
results.
--- Provides technical expertise to support manufacturing, field
service engineers, and customers.
--- Coaches and mentors junior engineers on oxygen product
development technology.
--- Provide excellent communication through technical writing,
verbal communication, and presentations.
--- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
without company sponsorship now or in the future.
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only
candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Davenport,
IA facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member
candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
This position requires use of information or access to hardware
which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations
(ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of
ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent
Resident (i.e. "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee or
Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Mechanical, Systems, or Aerospace
Engineering
5 years of engineering design and project experience
Experience in an engineering aerospace environment
Experience with Pro/Engineer (CREO)
Ability to apply Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing
(GD&T) principles
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection for
engineering design
Ability to perform basic structural and/or performance
analysis.Working knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design
for Manufacturability (dfM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
(FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Root Cause and Corrective
Action (RCCA) principles.
