Immediate Supervisor(s): Field Operations Manager Essential Duties:
The Superintendent will oversee and manage all aspects of the
construction process on-site. Will be responsible for ensuring that
construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to
the highest quality standards. The Construction Superintendent will
supervise daily operations, manage subcontractors and laborers,
ensure safety compliance, and be the key point of contact for all
on-site project activities. Key Responsibilities: Site Supervision
and Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the
construction site, ensuring the project is progressing according to
the approved plans, schedule, and budget. Project Scheduling:
Develop and maintain the project schedule, ensuring timely
completion of work and managing delays and changes in scope.
Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to support workflow and
deadlines. Quality Control: Maintain quality standards on the job
site, perform inspections, identify issues, and ensure all work
meets project specifications and safety requirements. Review
submittals and shop drawings. Check plans and specifications for
accuracy of dimensions and inconsistencies between plan sheets and
specifications. Examine/inspect field conditions and identify
problems, inaccuracies, and savings measures that arise or may be
encountered. Safety Management: Enforce strict adherence to safety
protocols, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies. Conduct
weekly safety inspections, meetings, and inspections, immediately
addressing hazards to maintain a safe work environment.
Subcontractor and Labor Management: Supervise and direct the work
of subcontractors, ensuring that tasks are completed as per the
project plan. Resolve any issues that arise between subcontractors
or with the work being performed. Communication: Serve as the
primary on-site point of contact for the client, architect,
engineers, subcontractors, and project management team. Ensure all
parties are informed of project status, potential issues, and
upcoming milestones. Budget Management: Monitor project
expenditures and manage costs to prevent overruns. Provide regular
updates to the project manager regarding project financials and
recommend corrective action when necessary. Project Documentation:
Maintain accurate and thorough records of all activities on-site,
including daily logs, progress reports, materials deliveries,
equipment usage, and labor hours. Problem Solving: Proactively
identify and resolve any construction-related challenges, delays,
or issues that may arise during the project lifecycle. Collaborate
with the project manager and other stakeholders to implement
solutions. Materials and Equipment Management: Oversee the delivery
and proper storage of materials, ensuring that all necessary
supplies are available and that equipment is functioning correctly
for the project's duration. Inspections and Permits: Coordinate and
schedule inspections as local authorities require. Ensure all
necessary permits are in place and that the project complies with
all local regulations. Qualifications: Education: A high school
diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree in
construction management or civil engineering or a related field is
preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in
construction management or as a Superintendent, with hands-on
experience supervising commercial, residential, or industrial
projects. Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of construction
processes, building codes, safety regulations, and construction
materials. Knowledge of project management software is a plus.
Certifications: OSHA 30-hour or 40-hour Construction Safety
certification is required. Other relevant certifications (First
Aid/CPR, LEED, etc.) are preferred. Skills: Strong leadership and
team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal
abilities. Ability to read and interpret blueprints,
specifications, and construction documents. Exceptional
problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple
tasks simultaneously. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform
physical tasks at the job site, including walking, standing,
climbing, lifting, and carrying materials as needed. Technology
Proficiency: Familiarity with construction management software
Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools. Personal
Attributes: Detail-oriented with strong attention to accuracy and
quality. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Strong work ethic with the ability to manage time effectively.
Proactive, adaptable, and capable of working independently.
